DOTD – February 21st

Devotion of the Day – Excerpt from “Jesus Always” by Sarah Young

Put on the armor of light. To wear this bright, protective covering, you have to put aside deeds of darkness. You live in a world where darkness is prevalent all around you. You need My light-armor to help you see things clearly-protecting you from being led astray by the worldliness that surrounds you.

I want you to walk in the light with Me. Make every effort to live close to Me. Such nearness to Me will help you make good decisions. Sometimes, though, you will make bad choices that lead you into sin. Do not despair when this happens. Because I am your Savior, I have made provision for all your sin. Moreover, the blood I shed on the cross cleanses you and keeps you walking in the light.

If you confess your sins, I forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. I am faithful and just, and I delight in your nearness to Me.

The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. -Romans 13:12

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. -1 John 1:7 NKJV

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. –Romans 13:14

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. -1 John 1:9 NKJV

Don’t think of prayer as a chore. Instead, view it as communicating with the One you adore. Delight yourself in Me. This will draw you irresistibly into communication with Me. Remember all that perfect, everlasting Love, and I take great delight in you. Let My tenderness embrace you, convincing you that you are indeed My beloved. Rejoice in the One who will never let you go!

Often the easiest way to start talking with Me is to thank Me for being your Savior, Redeemer, and Friend. You can also give thanks to things that are happening in your life, your family, your church, and beyond. These grateful prayers connect you with Me and ease the way into other prayers.

You can talk freely with Me since I know everything about you and your circumstances. I never reject you because the penalty for your sins has been paid in full-with My blood. Trust Me enough to pour out your heart to Me, for I am your Refuge.

Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart. -Psalm 37:4

The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy. -Zephaniah 3:17

You are my God, and I will praise You; You are my God, I will exalt You. Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. -Psalm 118:28-29 NKJV

Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. -Psalm 62:8

Devotion of the Day – Excerpt from “Jesus Always” by Sarah Young

Set Me before you continually. Keep your eyes on Me. I am at your right hand, close by your side. This is the most reliable source of joy, knowing that I am always near. Seek to strengthen your awareness of My presence so you can enjoy Me in your moments and feel more secure.

Communicating with Me-in silent prayers, in whispers, in spoken words, in shouts of praise-is the best way to stay attentive to Me. I want you to be real with Me in your prayers. Instead of worrying or obsessing about things, turn those thoughts towards Me. Talk with Me about whatever is on your mind. I will show you My way to handle the person or situation that concerns you.

Study and meditate on Scripture. Let it saturate your heart and mind, changing your way of thinking. Permeate your prayers with biblical concepts and content. As you stay in close communication with Me, the Joy of My presence is yours!

I have set the Lord continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. -Psalm 16:8 NASB

My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to You; And my soul, which You have redeemed. -Psalm 71:23

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. -Philippians 4:6 NLT

O satisfy us in the morning with Your loving kindness, That we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. -Psalm 90:14
